Kashmir Solidarity Gathering in Brisbane: A Message of Hope and Unity

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the Kashmir Solidarity gathering at King George Square on 5th Feb 2023. Your presence and support for the people of Kashmir means the world to us.
At PACA, we are focused on causes and advocacy that matter and have impact. The ongoing struggle of the people of Kashmir, especially women including victims of Kunan and Poshpora, is a humanitarian crisis that cannot be ignored. The horrific acts of violence and human rights abuses committed against the people of Kashmir, including the mass rape in Kunan and Poshpora, and forceful change in demographics are a stark reminder of the urgency of our cause.
That is why the first ever online Kashmir petition presented in the Australian House of Representatives was a historic moment for our community and we will continue to work towards making a difference.
We were inspired by the speeches from a strong Kashmir Advocate Amy MacMahon – Greens MP for South Brisbane, Greens Deputy Leader Senator Mehreen Faruqi statement, Shafiq Afridi President Pushtoon Association, Khadija Shabir Secretary of QUT Pakistani Student Association, Khalid Bhatti, and the powerful voices of native Kashmiris, Jamshaid Kashkari and Aamer Manzoor, who spoke from the heart about their experiences and struggles. Tariq Naveed also added to the emotion of the event with his beautiful song.
The video messages from our own Qld Senator Penny Allman-Payne and Mishal Malik specifically for the gathering also added more strength to our cause, and we are grateful for their support.
It was a moment of reflection and remembrance as we also offered Dua for the victims of the Peshawar Blast. The outpouring of support from the Qld community was truly moving. Your solidarity and compassion for the people of Kashmir will not be forgotten.
Once again, thank you for your support. Together, we can make a difference and bring peace and justice to Kashmir and all those affected by violence.
Get ready for an impactful advocacy step, where we will be needing support from each and every one of you!
